Jean Louis Barreto-Baerga is suing after a taser incident left him severely burned
Kissimmee: So, there’s this guy, Jean Louis Barreto-Baerga, who’s taking legal action against Osceola County and some deputies. This all goes back to an incident on February 27, 2022, where he got tased and ended up on fire, suffering burns on 75% of his body.
He was part of a big group of riders leaving a memorial ride near La Terraza Sports Bar. They were honoring a fellow rider who had died in an accident the year before. Just before they left, there was a report of someone getting assaulted by a motorcyclist nearby.
According to court papers, Barreto-Baerga was spotted doing a wheelie on Donegan Road, which kicked off a chase by the Osceola County deputies. They chased him all the way from Osceola County to a Wawa in Orlando.
Here’s the kicker: the deputies were told that Barreto-Baerga wasn’t the suspect they were after. But while he was just filling up his bike with gas, they tackled him and tased him.
Things went south fast when he got tased a second time. The gas around him ignited, and he was engulfed in flames. Now, he’s seeking compensation for all the damages, plus his legal fees.
It’s a wild story, and it’s definitely raising some eyebrows about how things went down that day.
