Gadsden Independent School District will delay classes by two hours on Wednesday due to dangerously cold temperatures
Gadsden: So, here’s the scoop. Gadsden Independent School District is pushing back the start time for classes on Wednesday, January 8. Why? Well, it’s going to be super cold, with wind chill making it feel like just eight degrees.
The district wants to keep students safe while they wait for the bus in those frigid temps. They announced that classes will kick off two hours later than usual. But don’t worry, staff will still show up at their regular time.
Right now, this delay is only set for January 8. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning, saying that the cold will hit not just Gadsden but also areas like El Paso and parts of central and southwest New Mexico and Texas.
As we brace for this chilly weather, folks in Las Cruces should get ready by taking care of the four P’s: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. Keep an eye on the elderly, make sure your pets are warm, insulate your pipes, and cover your plants to help them survive the cold.
Stay warm out there!
