HONOLULU: This weekend, a big film shoot is happening in Chinatown and Kakaako. From Saturday, January 18, to Sunday, January 19, several roads will be closed.

The Honolulu Film Office says these closures are for safety reasons since some scenes will need the road. If you’re driving in the area, it’s best to find another route.

On Saturday, Maunakea Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drivers can use Pauahi Street instead. Later that day, from 2 p.m. to about 10 p.m., part of Maunakea will have one lane open but expect some delays.

On Sunday, Maunakea will close again from 4 p.m. until midnight, allowing only local traffic. Queen Street will also be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for filming between the IBM Building and Hokua condos.

The film crew appreciates the community’s support, and over 500 people are involved in this project. So, if you’re in the area, plan ahead and stay safe!
