Many folks think cruise control is great for all driving conditions, but that’s not true. The Ohio Department of Transportation warns that it can lead to losing control on slippery roads.
When roads are icy or snowy, using cruise control can make it harder to react quickly. Sudden movements can send your car sliding, which is the last thing you want.
In fact, last year, nearly 500 fatal crashes happened during snowy conditions across the country. So, it’s smart to be cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses where ice can sneak up on you.
Instead of relying on cruise control, slow down and keep a safe distance from the car ahead. Gradual acceleration and braking are key to staying in control.
